Does it grab the paper or do nothing and say it is jammed? is it normal copy paper or heavy card-stock?
These printers rely on timing and checkpoints to ensure good print quality, if the printer grabs the paper but doesn't get it into position in time the printer will give a jam error but there was no jam, in this case look to see if gunk has built up on the moving parts that move the paper, clean if necessary.
If the paper is too heavy for the printer it will give a jam error when there appears to be nothing wrong, there is too much strain being put on the motors and the printer stops to avoid damage.

If it is none of these things then it is likely a sensor gone bad and is cheaper to buy a new printer than to repair.
Hope this gets you started in the right direction.
