Printer refusing to print

Hey guys I have encountered some printing difficulty to as it refuses to print. First off the printer is connected through usb (not network) and will print a test page (issued through device and printer in windows 7) however when sending a print request from either word or ie the request will not get queued and therefore will not print. Any assistance would be great. I'm assuming their is a driver issue somewhere but I'm not sure.

I assume that the Printer you want to print to is the default printer?
