I have an HP Deskjet Printer that smudges black ink when printed on photo paper.I believe its because it is pigmented ink.Earlier it didnt use to do that with the same cartridge.I have read somewhere that printers mix CMY to form black colour. Is my black smudging because it is using ink from pigment cartridge?

Solution
Are you sure you are using Inkjet Photo paper and not Laser Printer Photo paper?
Anything printed on an inkjet printer must use inkjet paper.
That printer also has its own black ink cartridge.

I am using the HP F4488 Printer. I dont think the jets need cleaning as the prints are perfect, but when you rub your hand on it they just wipe right off.The black doesnt stick to the paper. I tried 2 papers but same result. Is There a way i can only use color cartride to print on photo paper?

I seem to have solved the problem temporarily. Using matte photo paper does not smudge the ink. I dont know whats wrong with the glossy paper. I think I will stick to matte photo papers as they are not that bad either.

Yea once i did that still it smudged. I even use a hair dryer to dry the paper.Still it didnt stick.

Do you think its the paper? I think so..I think i will try the original hp glossy photo paper.I have ordered one set..
