I can print one document, but when I send the next document, the printer starts, then stops. Hangs forever.

Can't delete job from print queue. Have to restart computer to print again.
-- Windows 7 64 bit. Lexmark Pinnacle 901.

Yes I opened the print queue and clicked cancel. (won't cancel- hangs on 'deleting').
Yes I tried clearing the spool\PRINTERS folder (still won't delete from queue).
Yes I stopped and restarted print spooler. (does nothing).
Yes I set all dependent spooler services to automatic.
Yes I deleted anything related to printers on my computer and reinstalled all drivers and support software - several times - everything fresh from the web.
Yes I upgraded printer firmware.
Yes I turned off bidirectional printing (won't print at all then).
Yes I tried setting the printer to print after last page is spooled. No avail.
Yes I changed the USB cord and port. Nuthin.
Yes I restarted the computer. 27 times.
Yes I made sure the printer was on. (some help sites I found on Google make this helpful suggestion)

Sorry if I'm a little antsy. I had to restart my computer and printer 6 times to print one two-sided mother's day card. I wasn't in the most festive mood by the time I presented the card.

But this happens on all software I use: Notepad, photoshop, powerpoint, word

Does someone have a solution? I'm on 12 hours and last nerve now trying to fix this. A printer, or a computer is about to go out the window. It could be up to you to save it.
Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thank you.

Update: Just to check, I attached the printer (Lexmark pinnacle 901) to a windows 8 laptop and had no problems printing over and over again. So it was a problem with my Windows 7 64 bit desktop.
I did a system restore on the Windows 7 machine. No Luck. Still had to reboot to print a second document.
Reinstalled the USB ports from the device manager (oops accidentally removed mouse and keyboard), did hard restart of computer. No luck.

After 3 days of battling this problem, I found a suggestion to remove Internet Explorer 11 and backgrade it to IE 10.

This was simple enough going into start > control panel > Programs and Features >View installed updates

Locate the update to IE 11 in the list. Right click uninstall. IE 11 will uninstall and you will restart your computer.

Once I was running IE 10, I tested printing from all programs from picture viewer, to notepad, to powerpoint and more in succession.

All my problems were gone and the printer worked fine. No more hanging, no more printer queue clogging.

So problem solved. IE 11 does not play well with Windows 7 and old printers apparently. Hm.

Great stuff! Tried a lot of items in your list myself but still wasn't working. Was happening on my wife's work laptop (Dell) with our Officejet 8710. Frustrating to say the least!! Really glad I came across your post, I un-installed the update and so far it's printed 4 jobs in a row without issue. Which is a first! Kudos to you my friend!!
