Hi folks, I'm getting a new laptop with Windows 10 and I was wondering what advice you might have on privatising Windows 10 so that it isn't stalking me? Also, are there any things you can recommend for clearing off any junk installed on the new laptop (Asus X-series)?

Hi again USAFRet :)
That looks like a nice program, thanks!
The funny thing I wonder about is that you have all these free anti-malware-privacy-virus programs and how do you know if those programs themselves aren't taking information from your system for their use? :)

Investigation, research, reading reviews, personal experience, recommendations from trusted sources (other mods and members in here)...
Generally, if I personally recommend something here, it is something I have actually used, or is known 'non-crappy'.

When I find something 'crappy' I will call it out publicly. As in, "Do not use this, no matter how free it is."

Sounds good USAFRet, thanks for sharing your knowledge with integrity :)
So that's privacy covered, is there a top program for cleaning off any junk pre-installed on the laptop (Asus X-series, with Windows 10)? Cheers!

Hi again USAFRet,

I was reading an article that recommended adjusting the registry to block telemetry, here:

http://www.technicalnotes.org/how-to-disable-send-your-device-data-to-microsoft-in-windows-10/

Do you think this would be a good idea/safe to do, or does Spybot Anti-Beacon cover this anyway?

Also, there's another 'Decrapifying' program called just 'Decrap' (here: http://www.decrap.org/) - should I use this or PC Decrapifier (https://www.pcdecrapifier.com/)? Almost thought they were the same...

Thanks!
