Problem for Hdd

So I bought a spec alpha case and have a hp pavilion and want to transfer everything to the case excluding the motherboard and psu because I got new ones, but the hp pavilion I have has a hard drive with a big "cage" I think it's called. Is there a way I can put it in it? If a hard drive is a hdd and is kind of the same as a sdd, I can't really get another one right now because it's expensive. Unless someone can find a good one for cheap. Can I just mount the hdd vertically? Without the cage?

Is it one of those "cages" with a handle on it? You should be able to unscrew the hard drive from the cage.
