I am playing Half Life (1) on a fairly new system and near the end of the
fourth chapter ("We've got Hostiles"), after I get on the freight elevator,
about half way up I get a "Loading" message and my player and the elevator
freeze and I take infinite flack and die. I am on version v46/1.1.1.0 Any
ideas? Thanks.

I have had this same issue with various installs and found that jumping
repeatedly while in the elevator while most times fix the issue.

Seems when the loading screen appears you get stuck to the floor and
die, but jumping seems to stop this happening.

I recall having to do this same thing. Kind of annoying, but it works.

Seems to be a common problem throughout the history of HL, except that
I've played the game billions of times and never had this supposedly
common problem. :)

In any case, IIRC typical fixes included loading a savegame made before
entering the elevator. The other option would be to enable cheats and
noclip your way to the surface, possibly enabling god mode if you still
suffer damage when trying to get to the surface. The alternative would
be to play the Steam version of the game which I assume works better.

God mode isn't necessairy - all you really need is noclip to detach
yourself from the elevator, move just above it, and disable noclip. Unless
you miss, you should be going up as normal.

Not a fix - similar problems have been sighted in the Steam version. The
problem seems to involve the server-side physics (applies to SP as well),
probably an off-by-one error.

There are known workarounds, such as pogosticking on the elevator. That's
what got recommended when it happened in the TFC Well map. (Either that or
teleporters...)

Thanks a lot. Jumping worked. Now I can continue on enjoying this game.
