I am sorta new to the whole Overclock thing. Don't get me wrong, I've done my research, But I've come to a dead end.

Intel core 2 Duo E6550
Gigabyte G41MT-S2PT
2x 4Gb DDR3 Ram (1333Mhz I think...?)
Nvidia Geforce GT 640

I am trying to overclock my Intel core 2 Duo E6550. It comes stock at [333Mhz X 7]= 2.33Ghz. I've Successfully Overclocked it to [343Mhz X 7]=2.40Ghz. If i raise the FSB by even 1 over 434, It wont clear post. (Make the beep and go to the Bios). It just shuts down and reboots with default values. As if i cleared the CMOS. I know its capable of being pushed past 2.4. I've read all the tutorials, And all the forums. I just don't know What i'm doing wrong.
Here are my current settings:

Solution
Set PCI-E to 100mhz

What exact memory modules do you have brand and model # ?

The Robust Graphics Feature what options does it show?
I would disable that feature myself it could cause problems overclocking.

Disable the CPU Multi-Threading feature, your CPU does not support that.

Disable Virtualization Technology if you're not running a virtual operating system.

Well does it boot at 433? Because if so you are already overclocked to 3.0Ghz.
Or maybe that was a type-o?
Also your PCI Express Frequency might be throwing it off. Back in the days of AGP if you didn't lock the AGP bus you could get some really bad side effects by raising the FSB. It might be the same with that, so I would switch it to manual and lock it down.

Thanks for the fast reply! Yes it was a typo, IT was supposed to be 343, Not 434

Could you elaborate on that more? Is there a certain Mhz i should set it too? Or just trial and error?

I set it to 100Mhz, And changed the settings you have suggested. I then proceeded to try and increase the FSB to 350. It did the same thing, And did not clear post!

Just a thought, try changing the RAM bus Speed to lower, or the timings to be 10-10-10.
If your bios isn't doing a good job locking down the RAM frequency, then it could be your RAM. Again my personal suggestion would be try RAM at 10-10-10-24, then if that fixes it overclock to your max you want and then work on fixing the RAM later.

I tried this. Still no Prevail.

That Model was Right off of CPU-Z.

Sorry for late reply guys. Had other things in life come up. Back on this problem once again though.
