Every time i try to overclock my p4 2.4c to 3ghz, i keep getting an error on reboot stating that there is "media in floppy drive" "insert disk and press enter". This comes with some audible warning as well. The bios isnt even set to use the floppy drive as a boot device. I've also gotten a loud beep with a different setting configuration.

I've read people are getting 3ghz out of the chip with stock cooling, which is waht i was using up to this point.Btw, i am using an IC7-G board. I am putting a thermaltake volcano 7+ in tomorrow. Hopefully, that will solve the problem.

Short of it being a heat transfer problem, which I doubt it is, does anyone have a clue what my problem could be??

motherboards can give weird errors from overclocking (or any kind of failure really) - they don't always give the appropriate error. set the bios to "stop on no errors" or whatever the setting is, and see if that solves your problem. what kind of memory do you have, and are you running it in 5:4 when trying to overclock? and are you sure you can take the chip to 3ghz without extra voltage, or at all?
if your northbridge is getting really hot, you may consider active cooling (meaning a cooler with a fan) for that to help stability. that won't fix the problem that you're reporting at post though
