Problem printing color photos with HP Deskjet960c

I have a two year old HP inkjet printer model DJ860c. For many months
the printer worked great in producing color photographs. Now ALL the
photos have 1/8" bands running through all the photo. I've changed
cartridges, type of paper, the print page settings (best, normal,
draft) as well as the software to output the photo to the printer and
have done printer test pages (to clean nozzles). Nothing helps. Is this
what is called "banding"? How can I get it to print the way it did
before? I do not want to buy a photo printer when I have seen the way
this printer used to perform. BTW, I have NO problem printing text
files in color (graphics or plain text). It's only the photos that have
gone bad on me.

Print a diagnostic test as shown at:

If a regular section of the print is missing you should clean the cartridge
contacts as shown at:
