A friend brought a Dell computer and asked for help to replace the Motherboard.
I removed all the screws from the motherboard.
but it would not budge when I tried to lift it out.
all I know about this computer is the case was built in 2004.
I can only remove the side panel and the front panel from this Dell.
the drive cages are screwed into the back panel and front of the case.
it is a sturdy case.
does anyone know how Dell fastens their motherboards to the case?
should we junk it?

ubrales: I don't see any standoffs holding it down.what is different about this computer is there is a contraption that covers the CPU, and it leads to a fan that apparently blows out the air from the CPU, to the outside.

This is a large curvy green thing?
If so, that is merely an air duct. Sucking hot air off the CPU heat sink and blowing it out the back.

Here is the manual - ftp://ftp.dell.com/Manuals/all-products/esuprt_desktop/esuprt_dimension_desktops/dimension-2400_service%20manual_en-us.pdf

I got it from "support.dell.com" after I entered the Service Tag Number that you provided. The motherboard does not have stand-offs; instead, the back plate has bumps; functional.

Personally, this computer is suitable only for emails and word processing. I have an old one that I am willing to give away. The drive is PATA, and it has a CD drive, not DVD.

ubrales: thanks so very much!!!! I found the manual at the link you posted and now know how to remove the motherboard. I don't like Dell computers anyway. My bro a computer engineer, says Dell uses used parts for its computers. The only good asset about this one is the case.
