Problem restoring a backup to an SSD

Hi Folks,

I'm trying to restore a backup of Win 10 to an ASUS G750jw laptop with an SSD drive, but I keep getting an error message that I have no clue what it means or how to fix. This is the error message: "The Specified volume extent is not within the public region of the disk." What does that mean and how do I fix it?

Might you have converted the target disk to a dynamic disk. ?
If so, there appears to be no way to change it back, so the restore will take, except by first wiping the drive.

Yes it was changed to a dynamic disk. What do you mean by no way to change it back? And how will the restore take by wiping the drive? Could you give me step by step instructions how to fix it?

I changed it back to Basic. Now what?

What's the back up ? Folders, an image ? a clone ?

It is a win 10 [Win 7] system image.

On the hdd there are two partitions, disk 0 931 gb and disk 1 1024 kb. Both are basic.

It won't restore. I get the error message: "The Specified volume extent is not within the public region of the disk." It won't let me go any further. I don't know what the error message means and I don't know how to fix it.

The point I believe is that there is a fundamental discrepancy between the image and the target disk. I've never deployed a windows image nor employed a dynamic disk so I can be of no further help.
