Hi everyone.
I have a workstation and have the following config.
Asus P9X79E-WS Motherboard
Intel - Core i7-4960X Extreme Edition 3.6GHz 6-Core Processor
OCZ - RevoDrive 350 Series 480GB PCI-E Solid State Drive (Boot drive)
EVGA GTX980Ti Kingpin (x2)
G.SKILL TridentX Series 16GB(4x4)
Samsung - 840 EVO 1TB (x2)
Samsung 850 Pro 2TB (x2)
4TB WD Gold (x2)
Corsair AX1500i
Cordair H100i
Acer Predator X34

Recently the screen turned off randomly. The PC could be shut down. Then i restarted the PC and it worked fine. But again after some time , the screen goes blank and no display connected message appears. Sometimes it comes on by itself and everything appears normal and works fine . And then again goes blank. Sometimes it is just not responding.
Steps tried in troubleshooting in order are:
1. Reseat RAM - failed
2. Change RAM to other DDR3 - failed. {One thing i noticed is that 4 DIMMS are fine but when populating all 8 dimms (8x8GB), A1A2B1B2 show error. Nonetheless i used 4 dimms only on A1B1C1D1.}
3. Swapped the GPU positiions - failed
4. Removed the upper GPU and run with only the other GPU - failed.
5. Changed the PSU to an AX1200 - failed.
6. Changed the display with cable.

What should i do next. Am running out of options and think that Mobo is faulty.

Please suggest.
Thanks in advance.

1) Remove all the SSD, HDD, only use the boot drive to test the PC. Also use only one gtx980ti too, or even use other GPU, if you have.

2) Go into the windows event log to check there is any error or not.

3) Test the RAM one by one with MemTest86 https://www.memtest86.com/download.htm

4) Do you monitor the cpu or GPU temp?

5) Do you update all the MB drivers, like chipset, LAN, audio, or GPU?

6) Check the power management options in power plan, make sure to disable the " turn off display after XXxx min" also the for the hard drive, sleep, etc.

1. Done but to no value
2. windows event log shows no faults.
3. Memtest 86 runs fine. No errors found when using 4 DIMMS. However as stated above, 8DIMMS shows error in a1a2b1b2. Not detected.
4. CPU / GPU temps are normal. Tested with Prime95 and Furmark. No problems.
5. MB drivers on Asus website are old Whatever can be updated has been updated.
6. Display turn off with all other options were off from the start.

Thanks...:(

After all the head banging and troubleshooting that was done...
The problem was identified as...
A faulty display interconnect (Mini DP to DP)...

Then after 10-15 hours of changing cable...
Monitor flickers and goes off again.

Thaks all for the help again.
:pfff:
Boot successful but no login screen.

Then after some restarts , no boot screen. CPU error Q code b2

Steps taken in troubleshooting are:

1. Display from upper GPU # GPU1 (slot 1) removed to lower GPU #GPU2 (slot 5). Error Code b2

2. GPU1 removed from slot 1 and run with GPU2 in slot 5. Boot successful with login screen.

3. GPU2 changed to Slot 1 and restarted with GPU1. Successful login.

4. GPU1 put in Slot 5 with GPU2 in slot 1. Error code b2.

Anytime GPU1 is attached error b2 pops up.

Mailed EVGA regarding the problem...

Finally the problem was a faulty graphics card...
RMA seeked.
