Hi guys, appreciate some help here. When I try to start up my PC, it goes to the memory test, then to the IDE detection. My disk drives are all detected properly, but then a message will come up saying "The Windows Program has been Altered", and something else I can never finish reading before my system shuts down by itself.

Is this a virus problem or a hardware problem? I am pretty ok with computers, but this one has got me stumped.

thanks all in advance.......

It could be a virus, or it could be your hdd failing.
If on the other hand, you have made some changes to your config, that would require a repair install, or better, a clean install.

How about a back story? What did you do before the crash occured?

sounds like you messed around in windows a bit ...
