Question Problem with 5.1 sound in intel dx58so mobo

I have an i7 920 cpu, intel dx58so mobo, 12 mb ddr3 ram, zotac gtx

970 video card. My problem is that i cannot enable full 5.1

speakers with my system..i get rear speaker output only when i

select 7.1 system in realtek audio manager..if i choose 5.1..the

rear speakers are muted..so i am having to select 7.1 in realtek

to get my games to play output in my rear speakers..how to rectify

this ?

When posting a thread of troubleshooting nature, it's customary to include your full system's specs like so:

Which version of your OS are you on? With the above specs, you're also going to have to include the make and model of your audio equipment and how you've connected your speakers to the computer's audio output ports.
