This is a long shot but figured I'd ask here.

I have two laptops on the same network, but in separate buildings about 150' apart. One is at my desk in the house and the other in my workshop. When working in the shop if I need to make a change in a CNC file then Chrome Remote is the solution. While still physically in the shop I can edit the file on the desk computer and then copy/paste the amended file on the shop PC. Both laptops are Windows 10 or 11.

All worked fine for several years. Then I replaced the data hard drive in the desk computer a week ago. Not the Windows/program hdd, just the data drive.

Since then I can still connect to the desk computer from the shop with Chrome remote but only in the ONE TIME ACCESS CODE mode. The ability to just log into the desk computer from the shop no longer works. Obviously physically going to the house to log into Chrome Remote to get a pass code defeats the whole purpose.

When I start Chrome Remote on the shop laptop the desk laptop shows up in the REMOTE ACCESS window but is grayed out. If I start Chrome Remote on the desk computer it says "This computer is configured to allow one or more clients to connect without entering a PIN."

So the desk computer shows it is ready to be accessed without the code and yet it shows grayed out on the shop computer.

Can anyone give me some guidance here?

Thanks,
BH
