Problem with command prompt

Whenever I try to start command prompt, it loads only for a fraction of a second. A second, tiny blank window loads at the same time, before both windows close. This happens far too far for me to read anything on either window.

This happens if I try to run any .bat or .cmd files too.

Edit those .bat or .cmd file
add "pause" at the end of the file.

This doesn't change what's happening.

The command "pause" should make the cmd windows to wait until you press something before it closes itself.
If this does not work, something fishy is happening on your system

Which bat or cmd files do you use? Did you write these yourself or did you download these somewhere? For what purpose?

No attempts to use the pause command, or indeed adding the /k switch, is doing anything.

The exact same thing happens if I try to run a .bat or .cmd with 'pause', run cmd with the /k switch, or run as administrator.

Log in as a different user to see if the issue persists. Create a new user account for testing if you have to.

I think you got Haxored or your account is corrupt. log into the admin or make a new account--as mentioned above me, and if it still does it, reinstall time.

Just rename your profile to .old, generate a new one and move over local docs to new profile.
Make sure you have an extra administrative account incase you get locked out.

if this won´t help,
boot with a win10 install media (Microsoft windows media creation tool) and get into safe mode -> command line only, use the following tutorial to check your win10

So I managed to get a screenshot of one of the windows.

It is trying to run a file called SoundMixer from Appdata\Roaming\Microsoft\Soundmixer.

The other window seems to say 'mode' followed by a couple of numbers.

Run malwarebytes and have a look if it can remove it, but I would reset windows nontheless to be sure nothing else is infected.

Malwarebytes got rid of the files - and fixing this registry entry let command prompt load again!
