Problem with connection between my PC and Monitor

I just built a pc but when I click the power button on the pc everything comes on but then goes of in a second! Please help.

Have you checked all the connections to your motherboard? This is usually indicative of a loose 24/8 Pin connector. Be sure that everything is nice and snug. What are your system specs?

I did check all connections to the power supply and mother board. All them are plugged in snug, and when I first discovered the problem I unplugged and plugged back in.
