So I have tried putting a PC together for the first time and am experiencing some trouble. I have put everything together and when I attempt to turn on the power supply, nothing happens. I am using a Corsair RM750i and even the fan test button does not do anything.

I read on Corsair's website that the power supply requires a load. My 24 pin and 8 pin connectors have already been connected.

I am inclined to think that my power supply unit is faulty. Any other ideas? Thank you in advance.

Solution
When the psu is connected to a wall outlet and the switch is on, when pressing the fan test button, the fan should spin. If it doesn't, then return it for a replacement or contact Corsair
When you say you tried to turn on the psu, do you mean you tried to turn on the pc by shorting power pins on your motherboard or using the power on button from the case or did you just flip the switch on the psu?
Flipping switch doesn't actually turn on the system/psu.

Thank you for the reply Suztera,

I flipped the switch on the PSU and then tried the power switch on the CPU case as well. I have already connected the power, reset and LED switches to the motherboard as well. But on a side note, the Corsair RM750i comes with a fan test and bulb at the back. So after flipping the switch on the PSU, is it normal that the fan test button and bulb indicator do not do anything?

And I have no idea what shorting the power pins mean. Ill YouTube that and try to short the pins when I am back home.

Thanks again !

Thank you Suztera :)
I managed to short the PSU and it was indeed working! So, I removed everything from my case and reassembled everything outside the case and wala!
