Problem with De-activating write-protect of a CD

Hello, I've Windows Vista Ultimate. I want to format a new CD which is write-protected. Have followed a procedure from Properties (i.e. in Recording tab) to remove this, but when I then try to format following this, still get message 'This disk is write protected". Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Regards, Maurice

You cannot format or reuse a CD-R, as they are write once media. You can however, format and reuse a CD-RW.
