Problem with first PC build. HELP

Hi, I am a first time PC builder. I recently built a PC. All the components appeared to be working, however when I tried plugging in the hdmi cable into my monitor, there was no input to the monitor. Since then I tried with a DVI-D cable with no success as well as reinserting the ram and video card. All the fans appear to be spinning and everything appears to be working. I also reseated the ram. Can someone please help me!!

Did you plug your monitor directly into the GPU or into the motherboard?
