I just assembled a computer with a ASRock 990fx Extreme4 motherboard, with all other parts the same as in my sig. I use my graphics card for HD audio through hdmi, but when I try to hook up headphones through into the front audio jack, the computer freezes and needs to be restarted. On my old Gigabyte mobo it would load the Realtek audio drivers when I did this and everything would be fine. Any ideas on how I could go about solving this problem? I checked that the Realtek audio driver was up to date.

It could depend on the way you have things connected to the motherboard, the front panel connector is pluged into what connector. Y ou said your putting audio through your video cards HDMI port and how is that audio connected to the motherboard or are you just using the Pci-e buss.
