Hello! I have been searching the internet for causes of this problem without any success, so i hope someone here can help!

My gpu is a gtx 1080 and its been getting a bit low fps lately as gta 5 on medium settings get me between 40-60fps with fps drops down to 20 sometimes and before i used to get around 80-100fps on medium-high settings. I have been getting an error about my graphics card every now and then but i have always just closed it without thinking much of it.

Error message: https://snag.gy/Km9sb8.jpg and as you see in the picture i have the latest graphics drivers installed! (using older drivers does not help for this problem)

specs:
Cpu: i7 6700K OC @ 4.6ghz @1.325v
Gpu: Evga gtx 1080
Ram: 16gb HyperX Fury DDR4 2133mhz
Cpu Cooler: Corsair h110i liquid cooler
Mother Board: Asus Maximus VIII Gene
Storage: samsung 512gb 950 PRO NVMe SSD, 480gb HyperX SSD,
3TB Seagate Barracuda

Any help is greatly appreciated!

1| Make sure your motherboard's BIOS is up to date.
2| Uninstall your GPU drivers, using DDU, and reinstall them using the latest driver off Nvidia's site. If that doesn't work, use the last known stable version.
3| You forgot to include your PSU's make and model. How old is it?
