So a few days ago i built my first pc with my dad and it went well until we tried to turn it on and see the bios menu. All we saw was black and we knew it wasnt the monitor, so we checked all the cables and it was all fine then bout 30 mins later we took the gtx 1050 ti (graphics card) out. And it booted up fine, we dont think it is a faulty graphics card due to the fact all the fans were spinning when it was plugged into it. What we have done is changed the setting in the bios from PCIe to igfx and plugged the graphics card in again and it booted up fine.

We hope to install a os on it then install the drivers even though we set it to igfx. However i think due to the fact of the graphics card being plugged in it might work

Does anyone know if this will or wont work or if there is another method of fixing this

Thanks

It sounds to me like originally you had the 1050ti installed but had the monitor plugged into the motherboard video out not the GPU output ??

The PC at default bios settings would have expected to use the 1050ti hence the black display.

You should reset the bios to default while running the igp , switch off.
Replug the monitor to the 1050ti video output , switch on.

Does your motherboard have a debug display on it?

Do you have another system you can use to isolate the issue? i.e test the gpu in it and see if it has the same issue

Hey mate, I had similar problem. Could be a few differen't issues.
One - is your graphics card plugged in and screwed in properly.
Two - is your PCI-E Slot in working order? etc. Maybe you forgot to screw it in and the weight broke it.
Three - When your graphics card is plugged in, is your hdmi/dvi plugged into it? (Is the 6pin power plugged in?)
Four - Did you see/hear the PCI-E slot click in when you put the graphics card in. (Not pushing too hard)

Another thing you could do is unplug the graphics card and boot into bios and set it that it default uses integrated graphics instead of dedicated. Then plug the graphics card in, boot up and update drivers/go to device manager and check if it is working properly by clicking display adapters and then right clicking the graphics card to properties. (Should say working properly somewhere there.)
