problem with headphones.!!

my PC arrived today ......!!! so excited ....!!! i first plugged speakers which were running awesome....!!! but when i plugged headphones to my PC the speakers are only running not the headphones ....!! i ve also tried payback devices from task bar but in that list headphones devices are not showing....!!!! so pissed off...!!!!

Are you plugging in to a faceplate on the front of the computer or the headphone jack on the back of the computer?
