problem with high screen res - please help

i just got a new monitor and increased the res to 1600 from 1024. everything works fine, except for capturing. everytime i try to capture the program crashes. it happens with avi io and ati's own tv proggy. if i lower my screen res to 1024, then it works fine.

What is the model of your ATI card? Do you have installed the latest driver for it?

i have driver no 4.12.6292 There is a new ver out but it needs dirx 8 and when i tried to install that, my system went funny (thank god for ghost backups)
