Hi guys,

I have finished building my PC. While looking around, I noticed a problem with the I/O motherboard shield at the back of my PC tower.

Below is a picture:

I am having 2 issues with this:

1) In region 1 of the shield, there is a bump. I do not understand why the shield does that, but I checked the inside and outside of the PC tower and the shield fits perfectly at the back opening of my PC tower. I was thinking that this bump is dangerous since it does not touch the motherboard connectors as it should for grounding! How should I remove the bump on the shield? Should I buy another one?

2) When I plug in my VGA cable for the PC monitor, the VGA port (labelled 2 in the picture) "moves backwards". i.e it is not firm in position. Sometimes, I cannot properly fit in the VGA cable since the VGA port is not firm and the monitor's VGA cable becomes loose! How can I make the VGA port to stay in a fixed position when force is applied to it? Should I request a RMA with my IT retailer for the motherboard?

Please let me know what you think.

Regards

Well ask yourself how often you'll actually be pushing a cable on to the D-Sub port over the course of, say, 6 months?
Plus, soon you won't be using the that port at all if you're switching to HDMI.

Hardly seems worth RMA'ing it unless something else is found to be wrong with it.

The I/O shield really dosent do much other than keeping things from getting into your PC. You realistically could run the system without one.
That considered, I would ignore the bump (you can fix it if it bothers you though).
If the actual VGA port is being pushed back I would request an RMA, a loose port is not a great sign. If you only need it to work once, just hold the port from the inside of the case while you screw the cable into the port, then leave it alone.

Thanks for your reply Gam3r01.

I had a good look again at the VGA port issue.

When pressure is applied to the VGA port, there is a "movement backwards", but still, it is not very significant. Maybe I am noticing this since it was not present with my previous PC. The VGA cable does stay in the port though, and I can screw it to the port without issues, but because the amount of force applied is less, as a precaution, when inserting the cable, the cable is not as tight as it should be. However, I can still get video signal without issues on my monitor.

For me to fix the VGA cable tightly to the VGA port (without screwing), I need to open the casing when plugging the VGA cable, and apply force to the VGA port on the motherboard in the opposite direction.

This is the exact situation.

Do you think I need to request an RMA for this issue? I will be buying a new monitor too soon with HDMI cable.
