Hi,
I'm building my first custom PC and I'm trying to do it silent so I decided to pick Asus TUF Z170 Mark 1 as motherboard and Be quiet! Dark Rock PRO 3 as a CPU cooler. But I can't attach one nut out of four because the "thermal armor" is getting in the way as you can see on the picture. I tried many ways to get it there, but everything failed. So I'm asking anyone who had this issue how did you solved it? I know I could take down the armor, but I paid so much money on it and won't just throw it out of the window.

Thanks for any suggestion how to solve it.

you mean that motherboard cover thing ??

lets see what does it really do anyway ??

traps heat -- traps dust and makes it harder to clean out - gets in the way [as you now found out ] in the end whats the point of it anyway ? makes your board look ''kool'' ? adds to there sales hype ? motherboards been getting along just fine for many years with out something like that getting in the way

then does nothing as far as stability or performance or anything having to do with the function of the system , nothing ? may as well be in the trash and if something goes wrong , well there it is right back in the way of looking around the board or servicing it and your back to 'I wish that thing was gone so I can see what I'm doing '' you got to decide weather its stick with the hype or go with whats practical

[opinion]

good luck
