Hi,
I'm building a PC with an I5 4460, Asus H81M-P PLUS, GTX 1060 3GB, Aerocool Integrator 400w power supply, and 2 sticks of generic DDR3 1600MHZ RAM.
When I first powered it on, it worked perfectly, and I played games on it for about 2 hours.
When I went to boot it the next morning, the fans went through a cycle of spinning on, then off, and it wouldn't boot.
I repositioned the ram and cleared the cmos while holding down the power button to remove static. This worked and I was back on the pc with it working again.
Next morning... same again. When I reposition the ram it seems to fix it, but why is this? Is this likely a problem with the motherboard or the ram itself. The ram sticks are of two different brands, one Corsair XMS and the other crucial, but they are the same speed and capacity.
If someone would be able to offer a solution to this problem or at least some sort of explanation as to why this is happening I would be most grateful.
