Hi
I have a Riva TNT2 Nividia model 64 the card is made by VideoExcel. The fan on this card makes allot of noise. Infact its by far the loudest fan or component on my computer. I inspected the fan and it doesn't seem damaged. When I turn it of the computer almost goes silent. I don't no if I can turn it of without risking overheating the card. On the otherhand if I install a new fan or headsink I may srewup the cooling process or something. To buy a new card is to expensive and the card works fine, but the sound is making me crazy!!!
Please any ideas are welcomed.

If you want to go the easy way just break the fan out and stick with superglue a new fan on the heatsink.

The best thing you could do is remove both the heatsink and the fan and install new ones. Just ask how to do it if you are interested.

I did it with my Voodoo 3.

You have got to remove the card from its AGP or PCI slot and have a flat place where you can put the card.

You will notice there is a gap between the heatsink and the PCB of the card. If you look at the card from one side, you will notice the PCB, the TNT 2 processor and the heatsink over it.

Dammit, it's hard to explain, I will show you mi corel draw skillz, wait a little. I will post the how to in the internet (a very crappy how to)

You should not try the card without your fan, it will get too hot and may fry completely.

The link worked 30 minutes ago!!! I cannot get to my web page!!!

ok here is what i did, if you have the mini fan that sits flush with the heat sink take the screws out holding the fan in and remove the fan then i screwed a cpu fan to the heatsink using one screw in just one corner.this left the fan hanging oner the heatsink on two sides which blew air on the memory chips and allowed me to overclock a little more.160/165 but the slot below the card will not be useablo as the fan will block the slot.
