hello so i have some unusual problem with my monitor Asus vs228 and this never happened before.

I was drawing something and I had placed my monitor closer to me, when I finished and I grabbed it (probably somewhere near the buttons because it showed auto-adjust) and it literally made my screen smaller and now I have black edges on left, right and top of screen. Changing resolution or scaling size didn't help, neither did in Nvidia control panel. I've gone through every single of my monitor's settings and literally nothing changed, when resolution changes it stays the same, edges don't move a bit. I'm slowly losing my mind.

Hi. Seems like you have accidentally clicked the auto adjust button.

Find the AUTO button (in this monitor, I think it is right next to the power button) and press it, the video should be readjusted back to normal.

just to absolutely verify that it is an issue with the display;
try plugging in a different display(monitor, TV, whatever) and see if the image layout is still corrupted.

also you can try just switching video output to the display;
switch from HDMI to DP or vice versa
or even just try the monitor's cable with a different port.

I already tried different port and it's same. I guess it's either bad cable or I messed up settings.

bad cable; so try a different one.
like i stated, switch from HDMI to DP or vice versa.

if settings for the monitor itself have been altered or the way they are communicated within the display has been corrupted there should be some way to do a total system reset.
hold the power button for a moment, unplug it for a certain length of time, maybe hold the power button while it's unplugged..?

I have tried cable on different monitor and it doesn't have black bars around which is odd. I tried different cable (which makes me some problems with drivers) on this monitor and then it doesn't have black bars. I am so confused right now. Because only this cable makes problem on this monitor.

a cable cannot interfere with your system's drivers.

you may have a very low quality or very old cable that doesn't hold up to the latest bandwidth necessities but it wouldn't have anything to do with drivers.
only this cable makes problem on this monitor.
one end's connector may be damaged and just doesn't sit right with this particular display anymore.

either get a replacement directly from the display manufacturer or purchase a higher-quality version from elsewhere.

So I should just change cable? Thanks
