problem with my cd-rom

my cd-rom won't recognize a cd that came with my gpu. i just used it a couple weeks ago and now nothing. tried the cd that came with my motherboard and no problems.

also tried a cd recovery tool and it said there was no cd in my cd-rom. tried updating the drivers and then tried uninstalling and rebooting. also tried a couple things in the registry i saw online.

the cd is kept in the original envelop and that is in a cd case. not any serious scuffs, i have played cd's with a lot worse wear than this one.

would anyone have any idea what could be wrong? i am in windows 10.

Try this
- Blow some canned air inside your CD rom drive through the opening of it's tray while non powered (cleanse debris on the laser head preferably with Drive removed out of the case)
- Cleanse your CD rom surface with isopropyl alcohol pads ( with q-tip compact the cotton first to minimize lint), then wipe it off with lint free cloth, at times bending the CD-rom slightly and very carefully to a direction or another might help (careful not to break it)
- make an ISO image save of CD-rom when getting it to work or download the latest drivers from the manufacturer website.

if this is for installing drivers for the GPU you will be able to download them from AMD's or NVIDIA's website.

simple question though, is your optical drive a CD-ROM or DVD-ROM? cause it possible that disk is a DVD

It's probably a DVD-Rom
In some cases original DVDs come with exclusive tools like in motherboards with Bios Automatic Recovery feature where original driver DVD houses a recovery Bios image located in a specific path which make things easier on user compared to using other tools.
If it's not a Bios recovery thing or other specific exclusive tools, it's always best to download the latest drivers individually from the manufacturer website.

i don't understand "Bios Automatic Recovery". should i try to boot from the cd?

the cd-rom is a old one out of a dell ad-7200s i looked for drivers and the only thing i could find was on dell website and it didn't work. looked on sony website and can't find ad-7200s.

it is clean and i can play DVDs CDs and it recognizes any other driver installation disc i have, except my evga disc. there are some utilities i wanted off of it and to download from evga they want my life history c(=

i am stumped because i just had the the disc in a couple weeks ago looking at the utilities.
