Could very possibly be a problem with the GPU. Try connecting the computer to the monitor using a different connection, say DVI or VGA. If it still doesn't work, try connecting to a different monitor or a TV, this will show that it's either a problem with the monitor or the PC itself.

If you still can't get a signal at all, it might be time to replace that old clunker
