Problem with old pc

i have old pc without hdd, so i bought hdd 500gb toshiba and when i try to install windows xp it gives me "disc error occurred" when i try to install it from USB Flash drive, i tried to install it on my main pc and it installed so the flash with windows is alright and hhd is okay too, also i can install linux lubuntu on old pc without problems, but when i try windows it gives me disc error
old pc specs:
dvd-rw rom
floppy drive
p5gpl-x se motherboard
radeon x1300 graphicscard
pentium4 3.0ghz cpu

You forgot to mention the specs for your other dummy system which accepts your OS installation. Seeing how your motherboard has support for OSes latter than XP, does the same issue crop up on the latter revisions?

Your bios may think that your hard drive is AHCI when really it is IDE (or vice versa) Change this in the boot settings in your bios. This was the cause of this issue in the past for me.
