second time this happened to me, and my warranty just ran out.
First time, they took it to be serviced, and it was covered.
I am not sure it is worth it to pay for the service, if it is going to break down twice a year.

But what is the alternative?
I could buy a xerox laser black and white, with print/scan/copy/fax, but it's close to twice the price, where I live, and it's old, from 2012, I think.
model: WorkCentre 3045 NI

I print docs, not photos. And I scan a lot. black and white is okay by me.

What is the best way to go?
What about Brother?
There is also Canon and Samsung. I don't know much about them.

I used to have a Xerox laser, black and white, big and clunky, but it just kept on going, it just wouldn't die. But I hesitate to buy an old model from 2012.

To be used with Windows 10 x64.

What do you guys say?
I need a reliable workhorse, not a bunch of fancy functions but breaks down all the time.

Solution
If you want reliability, Epson and Ricoh tend to have excellent higher end models.

Canon has easy to set up network printers if you need something cheaper, with network scan and even SMB support in units like the MF8530/80, or if you're looking for cheaper with faster BW print you can check the MF416dw
