Problem with resolutions on gtx1070

Hi, i have a problem with my nvidia gtx1070, when i try another resolution than 4k or 1080p (via hdmi) the refresh rate go down to 30hz (in nvidia control panel) and i don't no why because before this card i had an rx480 and i could change the resolution between 1080p and 4k with no problem like 1440p, 1600p, 1800p.

Before i installed the gtx1070, i ran guru 3d driver swapper to remove the amd driver completely.

There's something strange, if i choose 1440p (and even 1080p) from windows screen configuration, it shows at 60hz but the colors seems to be only green and red o.o.

My pc is running windows 10 with the anniversary update installed, maybe this update break something because after this update i had some issues to update amd graphics driver and some times it happens with nvidia.

Right now i'm planning to do a fresh install of windows.

Any suggestions?

Yeah it's a very common problem if you have a TV style monitor. I have the same issue because of me using asus tv 1080p (kinda monitor but still problems with resolution). In order to make it work go here :

right click on your desktop>nvidia control panel>adjust the size and proportion of your desktop>size>change size

From there adjust the size on your screen with the arrows that pop out. Hope I helped! Don't forget to leave me a thumb up if I did!

I know that is a common problem, but why with amd rx480 didn't happend this? Its kind of weird, my tv isn't the problem, maybe it's a os or graphic driver problem (in my case).

I think I know what is the fix for that. Change the HDMI cable you are plugged with into the monitor , that's the most crucial thing. Second step is to convert your monitor settings in it's menu to factory preset. MAKE SURE TO BUY A NEW HDMI CABLE TOMORROW or if you have a different one just swap it and it will help.

Hey jackubek160, i tried with another hdmi cable and still the same u.u, i don't no why this happen because nvidia gtx1070 > amd rx480... 30hz even in my dreams hahahaha

Have you used DIFFERENT outputs on your card? Do that with hdmi/display ports/DVI-D.
