Hi I built my first pc yesterday, here is the build.

https://pcpartpicker.com/user/redbioniclem/saved/#view=8bvdmG

I think the errors I might have done were putting too much thermal paste or not handling everyhting correctly, or maybe im just overreacting.

When I first turned on the pc it was fine(i even went on google and archives to see everything, pc was fully functional until i turned it off) after finishing installing everything. Then I was happy and tried moving it to the place were I usually put my pc and closing the case. Even though I had connected the cpu cooler in the wrong place, which I later fixed)
Also, I added the ethernet cable and the 2 audio on the front of the case.

When I tried the pc wouodnt turn on and the red led light was on saying that the cpu was not being recognized.
I took off the cooler and cpu added a little more of thermal paste after cleaning the cpu a bit.

The system went on with the red light and for a moment it that led light went off and a couple of seconds later on again. I had the cooler not connected to the motherbord. When I connected it after turning off the pc, no cpu detected.

I took off everything to re do the flash bios after resetting the motherboard. And I am thinking maybe I didnt screw the cooler enough and the cpu went loose all those times.

Please, help.

Also you might have some how flashed the bios back a revision(s). Try your old 2nd gen processor if you can and see if the bios version is the latest.
I dont have a second gen processor sadly, I did the bios with the bios flash button from the motherboard. I thought of that too, thats why I took everything off and tried to do the bios update again. Have not tried yet if it worked.

Ok disregard my last comment. You must take the processor out to effectively flash the bios to the latest version via that method.
Yeah I did it once with anythin on it then when I tried to do it with the processor it would even start so I took everything out and the motherbord out of the case to redo the bios flashback. Thats were I ended because it was 6 am and had to sleep. Later today ill build the pc again.

Standoffs i was missing 3 screws and I will buy them today to redo the whole process, and there is thermal paste on the socket but as far as i can see there appear to not be any in the insides of the holes, just on the side and is not large it looks like it painted a tiny part of it. Also the tiny themal paste residues on the socket were there before the system booted up and I was able to use my pc.

Thanks a lot for that guide.

No problem. Just wanted to make sure all the basics were covered before anything else. Let us know how it goes. Then other steps can be taken as above once this is confirmed.

The thermal paste in the socket will need to be cleaned with Isoprop alcohol, as it can work initially, but cause an issue afterwards, hopefully it's caused no long term issues.

How would you suggest for me to clean it? I really have no idea how without doing something worse.
