I'm having an issue scanning my HDD using scannow via the command prompt. Every time it gets to 70%, it just stops and says 'windows resource protection could not perform the requested operation'. I've tried booting Windows in Safe Mode and running it, but it still comes up with it. :-\ I've tried running chkdsk /r and says it'll run on restart, but when I restart, it says something about pressing a key to cancel - it doesn't display long enough to read - and then just boots to Windows. It doesn't seem to even run the check. :(

if sfc still won't finish, try this command and afterwards run SFC again
right click start button
choose powershell (admin)
copy/paste this command into window:
Repair-WindowsImage -Online -RestoreHealth and press enter
SFC fixes system files, second command cleans image files - the files that SFC uses to check your PC so re run SFC and restart PC if it actually finishes.

Yeah, I tried that too. No dice. :-\ In the end, I just had to reformat the hard drive. Thanks for the help and suggestions though.
