I'm having this strange problem when certain games will look fuzzy/jittery on my second monitor when running them on my laptop in fullscreeen through hdmi.

I have a Lenovo legion Y520 80WK005QMH.
This laptop has a i7-7700HQ CPU, 8 gb ram, gtx 1050 gpu, running on windows 10.
The ONLY display out is hdmi.
The second monitor i have is the AOC G2460VQ6 24".

So most games i play on my second monitor work fine, and look "crispy"
But so far a couple of games have this problem where they look strange.
Project cars, civilization 5 and shadow warrior have this problem for me.
It only happens when in full screen, and only on my second monitor (not on the laptop screen).
If i play the game in windowed they look good.
Other games also work fine.

The problem is that the display looks low quality, and jittery (pixels appear to move up and down very quickly?). possibly they run at 1080i instead of 1080p? i don't know.
The resolution in the settings of the game are just 1920 x 1080.

I looked everywhere online and did find a few post stating similar problems, but i couldn't find any concrete sollutions.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, as running the games in windowed mode is just a pain in the ass.

If you need any more information just ask.

"possibly they run at 1080i instead of 1080p?"
No, modern screens don't use interlaced scanning. (That was only a thing for CRT monitors and TV's.)

When you start a game that has the issue take a look at the resolution. Sounds like it may not be using the monitor's native resolution.

Also, make sure you don't have the dual display setup to "Duplicate this display". The different resolutions on your laptop screen and your external monitor when duplicated can cause graphical issues.

Also, open your nVidia control panel and change all the settings to default then try again.

First of all thank you for responding,

So i double checked the resolution, and it says 1920x1080 59hz in the games that have this problem. The monitor is 1920x1080, so that should be correct?
The screens are not setup in duplicate, they are set up to expand the screen.
I also reset all the settings in the nvidia control panel to default, this made no difference.

Some other things i noticed, the problem does not affect just the game, it affects that monitor completely, for example in steam you can use shift + tab to open up info. that page is also affected when playing those game in full screen. Again, when i go to windowed everything looks fine.

If you or anyone else has any more suggestions or information on this i would really appreciate it.

Try the 60Hz refresh rate.
Open the menu system in your monitor, look for auto adjust and select it.

Other than that...
I'm out of suggestions. Typically what you describe is a video cable issue. But you are using HDMI so that's fairly unlikely. Are you using an adapter of some kind?

60hz isn't an option in Project cars, and in the other games it already runs at 60hz.
And i'm not using any adapter, just the hdmi to hdmi that came in the box with the monitor.
