I bought a keyboard for my Windows 10 PC which is the Samsung Multi Keyb EJ-B3400BWGGDE.

It has an Fn key which I want to disable or at least lock but I can't seem to find it. Can anyone help me with locking it or disabling it?

Settings>Ease of Access>Keyboard>Use the Fn key option

If you don't have it, you should also be able to disable the function key in the BIOS.
I do not have that option in Windows 10. Any other suggestions?

In the BIOS the option does not exist. My motherboard is the TUF Gaming X570-PRO

Hop into your computer’s BIOS and look around for the function key setting, you should be able to set it there. If you‘re not sure where it is or how to get to the BIOS, tell me your motherboard model and I’ll help you.

I guess I’m old…after further review, motherboard manufacturers stopped adding this option to the BIOS years ago.

As far as I know, Windows does not allow you to change the function key‘s function. You could edit the registry, but that’s putting you in dangerous territory.

I’ll update you if I find a solution, since I would like to know as well.

Thank you, looking forward to receive help.

I just didn't pay attention when buying a small keyboard and now I am stuck with this dumb FN key :) Waiting for your reply.

Currently using win 10 pro :)
Hit the Windows key + R, then type "gpedit.msc” in the text box. Then Computer Configuration>Administrative Templates>Windows Components>Windows Mobility Center. Look for “Function Key Lock” and double click so it opens a new window. You should have the option to disable it and then hit apply. Should be good to go after that, may have to restart but I don't think its necessary.

If that doesn't work or you can't find it, you can install SharpKeys from Github and make the edits to the function key using that software. All it does is edit the registry for you but make it a bit easier than doing it yourself.

Nothing was available under Windows Mobility center, so I went for SharpKeys.
I tried two different things in Sharpkeys: remap Special: Wake (or FN) (E0_63) to Turn Key Off (00_00) - when pressing alt and F4, no windows closed.
Then I tried Special: Wake (or FN) (E0_63) to F-Lock: Close (E0_40) and also when pressing alt and F4, no windows closed.

I rebooted my pc as per instruction.

I mostly want FN to disable so that I can use alt+F4 to close windows quickly or FN to be always locked.

Any clue how to remap it correctly?
