Problem with Western Digital 2tb - External Disk

Hi!
My WD 2Tb starts flashing and does not work properly. Sometimes it opens up and I can see the files, but coping them to the computer takes forever. Other times it stalls and does not open the files...
Could you please help me? What can I do?

I would suggest trying a different USB port, just to see if there's any difference.

Then; run a health check of the drive using WD's own tool: Data Lifeguard.

Hi!
First of all, thanks for the help.
The thing is: I installed the app, but then there was a warning telling that the test would result in a data erase. Is there a way to solve the problem without losing data?

I'm not sure what's happening there; nothing should be "erased" with anything other than the "erase" functionality.

"test" and "quick test" should not impact data - although backups are always a good idea, just incase something goes awry.
