Hello,
I have a strange and a bit dangerous issue with resuming from sleep mode.
Here are my specs first:
Asus Z97-K with latest bios
Intel i5 4690k@Stock 3,5Ghz with Stock cooler
Asus STRIX GTX 970 with latest drivers
8GB Kingston HyperX Fury 1600Mhz(1 stick)
1TB WD Blue HDD
120GB Kingston SSD
Samsung DVD-RW Drive
Cooler Master Elite Power 600W
Cooler Master K350 Case
Windows 10 Pro x64
The problem is, sometimes(rarely but still very randomly), after waking the PC up from sleep mode the CPU Fan will not spin up.
Every other fan, my front intake and the rear exhaust fan spin up correctly, even the VGA fans do work.
The symptons are not this easy tho. During a normal boot the CPU fan spins up to max then slows down to around 1000RPM within seconds then adjusts the RPM according to load, which is working perfectly.
After resuming from sleep however, the fan spins up to max then slows down until it stops completely, 1-2 seconds later spins up to max again, etc. It is going on endlessly until I shut down, reboot or even try the sleep mode again.
This is the better occasion. The worst is when it never tries to spin up again, just once. Yesterday I didn't notice the problem and started a game and the PC cut power completely after a few seconds in the game due to overheating.
I'm now scared to use sleep mode because it could happen any day again. Sometimes it doesn't happen for days or even weeks.
Only thing I can make a connection with is that, 2 times it happened after being in sleep mode for a very short amount of time (few minutes).
Also I'm scared to keep testing with sleep mode as I don't want to corrupt my OS with the pc cutting power.
Thanks in advance,
Lekro
