So, I'm sure this has been brought up before but it seems I'm either not understanding the answers, or people aren't answering it in the way that makes any sense to me.

I have an ASUS STRIX 1080ti OC 11GB and need to connect it to my RX 750i power supply, which came with 2 of the following cables: 8PIN to 8PIN with and additional 6+2PIN attached to that end.

My question is this - Is it okay to use just that one cable to install my GPU to the PSU, or should I use the 2 cables it came with and not use the 6+2 portion of both cables?

Thanks in advance,

PS - can I delete the 6+2 without causing any problems? (as in cut them off?) I can tie wrap them down without a problem, I just really don't want to have to go buy a whole new set of aftermarket/custom cables.

Solution
You should definitely use the two separate cables and not a single cable. That card is going to pull a lot of current, spreading it between two connections on the PSU and two cables is the way to do it.

In terms of the extra bit, I wouldn't cut them but you are fine to zip-tie them or whatever else.

Solution
You can do it either way you want, those pcie connections all come from the same source inside the psu and the wire is heavy enough guage to handle the 300w designated by the 8/6+2 and then some. So single or double is no worries.

Don't cut the wiring, zip tie if you must.

I'll second that
