I am having problems connecting onto the internet with my wireless card from Alltel. The card model is UTStarcom UM175 USB Modem and my computer system is Vista and my computer is a Compaq laptop. It has worked for 2 months then all of a sudden when I try to connect I get an error message that says: Handle is Invalid There is not error message code, just that phrase. And it will not let me connect to the internet. I have tried authorizing the card again, didn't work. I've also tried restarting my computer and that doesn't work either.

I have tried to reinstall the program but it doesn't start the re installation, I haven't removed the program yet because I'm worried that I wouldn't be able to reinstall it afterwards.

I called Alltel's customer support and they told me that this is a computer problem and that I would have to get a computer tech to fix it. I tried the card on my other computer (an XP) and sure enough it is working. So it looks like it is my laptop that is causing it. I honestly can't afford to have someone work on it right now, and I'm hoping I can fix it myself (with your help).

I appreciate all your advice!!

As it's not working now, you have nothing to loose. Uninstall it restart the computer and reinstall, it may pay to temporarily disable your antivirus program before installing, then turn it back on.
You may need to run it as administrator.

Unfortunately removing the Alltel program and reinstalling it didn't work. I still get the error message "Handle is Invalid". Does anyone have a suggest as to what I can do next? I really don't want to go see and pay a computer specialist to fix this if possible.

I would appreciate any other advice. Thanks!
