Problems on activating wifi while airplane mode is off

My laptop's airplane mode was off but my wifi is still off! I can't find out the problem so I asked over here. Please help me to solve this problem!!!

Try looking around the sides/bottom of the laptop for a wireless radio switch (A physical switch, not a switch within the OS). If there is one, you may have accidentely switched it off. Turn it back on.

(Just asking, how do you know the WiFi is off? What does it say? There should be an on-screen button next to WiFi in the settings "charm" that you can switch back and forth.)
