I installed 2 new SSD's Mother board and cpu in my box and set the bios for raid. The next step tells me to go to the AMD Option ROM utility. To get that to open I am to, During POST, press <Ctrl> + <F> to display the utility main menu. When I do that nothing happens and It tries to install windows 8.1.

ASUS M5A99FX PRO R2.0
16gb ram
2 240gb solid state drives
AMD 8230 processor

Mother board, Processor and drives all fresh out of the box. All work without being in RAID.

Any and all input is greatly appreciated

Thanks in advance!

Solution
Make sure your drives are connected to the AMD ports (Grey) and not the blue asmedia ports. Ideally you want ports sata6g_1 and sata6g_2
(blue ports are sata6g_e1 & e2)

in the bios under Advnaced Setting>Sata Configuration - set ports 1 thru 4 in raid mode and port 5 to ide (plug your optical drive into port5 which should be up by the 24pin main power connector) and set all those sata esp ports to disabled (it its not already)

now in the BOOT section of the bios, disable full screen logo andd fast boot for now. Enable F1 on errors and CSM with CSM set to always launch and options of Legacy and uefi.

Save and exit

when yo see the press Del to enter the bios you should shortly afterwards see press crtl+F to enter the raid setup

Solution

Thank you for your response. You were spot on. I had the optical drive in port 5 set to RAID. After I changed that all went smooth.
