Problems trying to connect to a printer on a network

I am trying to add a printer on a snap on Verus scan tool that is running Windows XP embedded. The printer is attached to a windows 10 PC. Is this even possible given the huge difference in OS's? If so here is what is going on. When I try to add the printer I get a "Operation could not be completed. Access is denied." I had no problems adding the printer with another pc but it was also a Win10 PC that is logged in under the same account. Any other info you guys have would be great. Thanks in advance
