Hi,
I recently installed Power Color Radeon 9600pro 128mb, along with the latest catalyst drivers. I set everything up and went to play a game (Half life: Counter strike). After about 20 minutes or so of playing i get a VPU error which takes me to desktop. It says my graphics accelerator had to be reset. It then gives me an option to send an error report to ATI, which i do. Any ideas why my graphics card would be crashing, and any ideas on how to fix it?
I can use my older Geforce 4 mx440 128mb without any problems, but the 9600pro is alot nicer and i'd like to get it working if possible ;/
Thanks in advance.
Michael.

My PC specs are as follows:
Asus A7N8X-X nForce2 Motherboard
Athlon 2800+ Barton @ 2.09Ghz
512mb(2x256mb)TwinmosPc3200 ddr ram
80gb 7,200rpm Maxtor hdd
Power Color Radeon 9600pro 128mb
Power Man 250W PSU

Turn off FastWrites.

That's likely the problem, I had similar issues a while back.

BTW, since it sounds like you had an nVidia card in there b4 the ati, did you use drivercleaner or driver detonator program to clean-out fragments of old nvidia drivers? If not, probs often pop up.

Do you have VPU recover on? if your not OC'ing your card you can turn it off and then you won't have to worry about getting that VPU reset warning.

Remember, there are no stupid questions, just stupid people.
