Have you tried plugging and unplugging your 6 pin power connectors, even swap them. Corsair makes good PS's, but anything is possible, so you might want to try using a volt meter and verify the 12 volts on each of the 3 pairs of pins. OF course the card may be defective. Since it is still new I would contact the manufacturer very soon. If they know of similar issues, it is better to get an RA and get it exchanged ASAP instead of pulling your hair out trying to figure it out!

also i use a 6 pin connector and a 6+2 connector for the 8 slot. would that effect it?

No problem. I wouldn't even mention it. It would be almost impossible for the manufacturer to prove that you OCing caused the problem. Although OCing can cause problems, it usually takes a lot of long term high speed, high heat usage to actually cause a problem. I really doubt you had anything to do with it!

The 6 and 6+2 is fine, just make sure they are all snug in each socket. You can measure the voltage with the system on. Just insert the probes carefully into the back side of each connector. If you don't have a volt/ohm meter, you might want to get one. You don't need anything professional, $25 to $40 would be fine! You can use them for home AC ( wall plugs ), cars (12v), your computer, ect... Good tool to have!

last question when enquiring about RA's do i ring the telephone on my XFX Hardware Limited Warranty card or do i return it to the store?

Crashes are really bad. Just now i was playing a game and all of sudden HUGE black artifacts were flashing everywhere and they are appearing on EVERY game. Would that be enough of a reason to return it? Or is that bad drivers? Im using latest.

It is either PS or the GPU. That type of problem is most often the GPU. I had to return a bad 6950 and I called sapphire and told them of my problem and they told me that it was probably their card and gave me an RA right away. I then contact Amazon and returned it to them with the RA number. Amazon was great and shipped me the new card even before they got the old one back. It is not the driver unless it is not installed properly. Did you uninstall any previous AMD or NVidia driver before you installed the new AMD driver. That would be the most common reason the driver would be an issue. Otherwise, it's hardware.
