Problems with a z87k

So i have just bought a new mobo and a new cpu( mobo- z87k, cpu-4790k) and i wired everything up except an 8 pin slot. I put a 6 pin and a 2 pin cable in the slot then i pressed the ON button and then i tried to start the pc but nothing happened. If I try to run it without any cables in the 8pin
The fans spin for a second and that's it.

In the 8 pin slot on the motherboard you have to connect the EPS (CPU) cable, not the PCIe one (6+2).

I dont have one tho. Would an adapter work for it ? Could i use a set of two 4 pins?

Yes, the 4+4 pin power cable is the one that you have to connect to the CPU power header on the motherboard. The 6+2 is for graphics cards.

Nevermind the 2 4 pins(4+4) wont fit there
